Department of Biotechnology & Biochemistry

Description

The department of Biotechnology was established in 2003 with the introduction of M.Sc. course. The two year M.Sc. (Semester) programme has intake of 40 students. In 2010, three years UG (yearly) integrated programme in Biotechnology was also introduced with intake of 120 students. Department has well equipped laboratory and is connected with internet and intercom facility. It offers a highly conducive academic environment for teaching and learning activities. We encourage innovation and interdisciplinary activities with collaboration from other departments /Institutes on personal levels. We encourage our students and faculty to attend meetings/seminars/conferences and other academic activities. Department monitors overall performance of students through regular assessment and conducts test/seminars/quizzes. Teachers update themselves for discharging their responsibilities by attending seminars/conferences/workshops etc and by consulting library books, journals and regular study through use of internet.

Many National & International Research papers Published by Faculty members. Faculty members regularly attend the seminars/conferences/workshops and present their work.

Achievements

  • Dr. Ravindra Swaroop Singh was awarded as fellow of Life Sciences by National Journal of Life Science.
  • Dr. Ravindra Swaroop Singh was awarded as fellow of Life Sciences by National Journal of Life Science.
  • Noman Ullah Khan- M.Sc. Student (2010-2012) qualified GATE 2012 and completed M.Tech Programme in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering from IIT Kanpur.
  • Sonal Omer – B.Sc. student (2011-2014) Qualified IIT JAM and completed M.Sc. in Biological Sciences at IIT. He qualified NET examination and is pursuing his Ph.D. from NIN Hyderabad.
  • Abhinandan Mani Tripathi – M.Sc. student (2008-2010) qualified CSIR NET.
  • Saurabh Dhuria – M.Sc. student (2010-2012) qualified CSIR NET.
  • Anirudha Agnihotri – M.Sc. Student (2010-2012) qualified CSIR NET.
  • Abhishek Kumar Singh - M.Sc. Student qualified CSIR NET 2015.

Activities

Every year Biotechnological Society conducts various departmental activities like Invited Lecture/Industrial tour/Poster competitions

  • An Industrial tour was organized by Biotechnological Society at PEPSICO, Jainpur, India on 29/09/2012.


  • An invited lecture was organized by Biotechnological Society on “Bioinformatics”. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Sanjeev Yadav, Professor, Department of Bioinformatics, Algappa University, Tamilnadu on 18/10/2014
    .

  • A poster Competition was organized by Biotechnological Society on the topic “Recent Trends of Biotechnology on Environment and Human Health” on 14/12/2015.
